Make It Personal
I have always loved the curvy look.

Establishing personal style can be tricky especially since the home is another layer of the same theme, YOU! Not to mention, the options on how to furnish your home can seem endless. Sometimes these choices can start to all look the same. Retailers push design trends, which may or may not speak to your vibe. Hence knowing what works for you works best in finding your style.
Most of us live with others and in. cases where we are solo acts, we will host guests from time to time so let’s plan for them. When establishing your style think about the people in your life who will share your space, and consider their needs when planning out your design as well. Keeping in mind comfort is the key to existence. Good design can pay off in ways we can only experience.
First things first, who are you? It’s essential to take time to really think about this answer. It should be an answer that can stand the test of time past, present, and future. Think of your culture and your history what are the styles that could be used to display or represent those things? Where do you see yourself in the future? Pieces that are meaningful toward goals where you see yourself are great motivators, it could be something as simple as a flag or scarf that represents a country that you plan to visit or live in.

Colors are fun. Choosing what works well for your success and peace at home is made easy with Feng Shui. Colors have meaning in Feng Shui for example, metal is represented as the color white or gray, wood is green or brown, fire is red, orange, and yellow, and water is blue. If you haven’t already found out your element, find an app that can tell you what your sign is. Based on the element, some colors will enhance you while others could block positive energy. Check out Colors, another post in the Fengtion Series for more about colors and spaces.
Welcoming spaces will never go out of style, embrace your likes and dislikes and begin with a clear knowledge of self for timeless class. There are a few questions that should have answers to know if your understanding of self is enough to venture out and start shopping (if you don’t have what you discover is you).
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ROOM IN A HOME?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF FURNITURE PIECE?
DO YOU LIKE TO ENTERTAIN? IF SO, WILL YOU ENTERTAIN IN YOUR HOME OFTEN?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF ART?
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF DECOR?
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A HOMEBODY?
WHERE WILL YOU SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME AT HOME?
The answers are not wrong or right nor is there one answer to each question. You may love plants and pillows as favorite decor items (they are mine 🙂 It’s all good as long as your home says “I LOVE PLANTS AND PILLOWS!”. Likewise, if the bathroom is a favorite room then the bathroom should say “THIS IS MY FAVORITE ROOM”. How you do that is by incorporating some of those favorite decor or art pieces in the bath. The purpose of the questions is to define your tastes so those tastes may be reflected in your style. The most fun is putting all these answers together and seeing what beauty exists within you, your choices, and your results they are the most interesting part of you. No matter if you share or no one sees, you will thrive because you are feeding your spirit with positive encouraging energy.
